課程概述	本課程目的在於介紹分析當代威權主義理論發展，該領域文獻興起於當代威權主義復興與民主化困境。民主政體被盛譽為獨門政治典範（the only game in town），但是21世紀初，全球政治局勢出現逆轉，不但越來越少威權政體民主化，同時某些新興民主國家的民主頻顯鬆動。同時，中、俄等威權政體則是逆勢成長，不斷翻新威權統治技術與民主政體相抗衡。本課程基於學界所發展的比較威權主義文獻，共分為四個部分做介紹。第一部份檢閱民主與非民主政體及威權政體分類的理論。第二部分個別深入介紹威權政體的次類型，包括軍隊、單一政黨、個人、王朝、以及混合式獨裁政體。第三部分處理威權政體的存續、崩潰與轉型。第四部分以威權政體當中的政治行動者為主軸，探討威權政體中的政治行動者之間如何互動。最後以民主衰退的辯戰作為結論。
課程目標	本課程為研究所選修課程，教學目的主要使研究生能掌握比較威權主義文獻的政體分類、政治改革及轉型理論、議題與研究方法。
